This picture is of Shane working in the sound room in the Family Life Center at Rosedale Baptist Church. Shane volunteered to help with the Spanish ministry at our church. He was the sound room technician. And he also translated the sermons from Spanish to English for those that were attending the service trying to learn Spanish. He wasn't totally fluent, but he tried hard and was improving consistently. In the sound room, he was great! I knew that if Shane was up there I didn't have to worry about the sound for that morning. He was faithful and professional in his approach to his responsibilities. He was always very careful to ask me how he did that morning...trying to improve on his approach and his performance. I remember each Sunday after the Spanish service was over he would always pack up my laptop computer that we used for our powerpoint presentations in service and bring it down to me from the upper level where the sound room was located. He always made sure that the equipment was properly turned off and stored. He did this after realizing that I was having to take care of that each week. He did it so I could stay downstairs and finish greeting and mingling with the church attendees. He did it to be a blessing to me and to the entire Spanish ministry. Every week now...I have to go upstairs and pack up my own computer and turn off and store the equipment myself. Each time I do that, I'm reminded of what a blessing Shane was to me.

My family and I moved into a house that hadn't been well maintained as far as the landscaping was concerned. Shane knew how busy I was and that I probably wouldn't have the time to take care of it like it needed to be done. He decided to do it for me. He pulled together some of his "resources" (he always told me that he had done so many things for other people that he always had several people that owed him favors) and he personally redid the landscaping at our house just to be a blessing. I was blown away by the amount of time and energy that he put forth into that project. It obviously took longer and was a little more intense than he originally thought, but he didn't let that stop him. He persevered and got it done. This involved many hours of hard physical labor. There was the 2 tons of rocks that he had delivered to the house which he spread so carefully and beautifully around our backyard area. Then he trimmed bushes and pulled up weeds. Some of them were so large that he had to use a circular saw to cut them down. He also did all of the research and ordering to have a new filter delivered and installed for our pool. What a neat thing to see him and Noah swimming in our pool after all of that hard work was complete. This project took him a while to complete. He would come over whenever possible to work. He would always bring enough pizza for lunch so that my daughters could have some. I was totally amazed at the time, energy, and resources Shane was willing to invest in my family and me. He was truly a blessing to us.
IN MY HEART FOREVER
The time has come for me to release you
Free to fly high above this world.
Where the flowers forever bloom &
The ultimate love fills the space.
In my attempt to try to keep you
I've only been able to hold the anger
Not realizing that I have to let you go
I can't hold on.
I'll no more keep your pain alive,
I won't try to hold you down.
I'll let you fly on to higher ground.
My grief has left a numbness,
as if this isn't real
You are in my heart forever,
but I know I have to let you free.
Soar high.
Laugh as a child that feels the joy of the moment.
Play among the rivers flowing through the hills.
Roam the fields of daisies.
Fly to the top of the mountains.
With closed eyes, I see you among the flowers,
High above the clouds.
Your presence blows through me with the breeze.
Your smile beams down on through the sun.
The full moon brings the light of your laughter to my mind.
And the Butterfly in all its splendor reminds me
of your beauty and freedom now.
Leaving your love for me lingering in my world.
I will miss our talks in the morning on the way to work. You always gave me advise, and looked out for me. If I called upon you for anything, anytime, or for any reason, you were there.
One memory on the football field of you is when I intercepted a pass by the other team...and running it back, you knocked this guy down trying to get to me, and I heard you yell to him.."don't touch my little brother".
You were your "brothers keeper", and getting by without you will be difficult. I love you and miss you greatly bro.
